An exceptionally scarce work published at the height of the Klan's resurgence in the early 1920s — a period when the organization had grown to millions of members nationwide and wielded considerable political influence — the book represented a pointed and direct challenge to the Klan at a time when such criticism carried real risks.

What makes the work particularly notable is its methodology. Rather than relying on outside critics or opponents of the Klan to make the case against it, Dalrymple constructed his indictment using the Klan's own words, statements, and documented actions. So particularly effective was the approach, the author was publicly attacked by the Klan who gave orders throughout their ranks to capture, whip, tar, and feather the author.

A very nicely preserved example of an exceptionally rare title, retaining the original lithographed print on the front cover. The spine has losses at the head and tail as shown, but all else is quite good. Text bright and clean with only a very minor occasional faint stain or thumbing mark.
